Someone told us that the event we organized at The Kindergarten was the first of its kind in the Arab world. Our main focus were bikes and Beirut: how to bike around town, how to get more people involved, what solutions and actions could be taken.
The talk was decided in problems, solutions, visions.
Every speaker had its take on the three parts.
Matt Saunders is the co-founder of Deghri Bikes, the first bike delivery service in the Arab world
Monica Basbous is an architect that planned a bike-lane (within a larger public space project) across Beirut
Siwar Kraytem is the author of “ABCycling”, the first guide to biking in Beirut. Together with Matt she was one of the minds behind Baskil, the first festival in the Arab world focused on the issue of bikes.
